Laurel Walsh
S’23, Biochemistry
Laurel graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern in 2023 with her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry following co-ops at 6K Energy and Harvard Medical School. After graduating, Laurel joined the Broad Institute where she works on detecting circulating tumor DNA to monitor cancer progression in clinical studies and develops novel, high-accuracy sequencing technologies. She plans to apply her technical skills in her doctoral research through the NIH and Oxford to build stronger pathogen monitoring infrastructure. Outside of lab, Laurel has been training as a fine artist for over two decades. She took on the creative direction of NU Mural Club and now serves as co-Chair of BroadRATS Social Committee and participates in Broad’s Scientists in the Classroom program.
